From the Bible, in MALACHI, an important truth that is, today, sweeping the world is emphasized. In fact, the following is the final two verses of the Old Testament foretelling this movement: We find:
5 Behold, I will send you Elijah the prophet before
the coming of the great and dreadful day of the Lord;
6 And he shall turn the heart of the fathers to the
children, and the heart of the children to their fathers,
lest I come and smite the earth with a curse.
(Malachi 4:5-6.)
Elijah's mission is family centered and is to bring fathers to their children and the children to their fathers. If this is not done, then the earth would be wasted. It is all about the FAMILY!
Every human being that has or will live on this earth, once lived in heaven. Adam and Eve became the first parents on earth and everyone owes them a debt of gratitude as our Forefathers. We are all one big family, spirit children of Heavenly Parents.
Our Savior, Jesus Christ, took upon himself the sins of mankind, was crucified and was resurrected, giving everyone salvation, that is, life after death. And we are promised that families are forever.
Jesus said: "In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also." (John 14:2-3.)
Just prior to the crucifixion of Jesus, on the Mount of Transfiguration, Moses and Elias (Elijah) appeared to Jesus along with Peter, James and John. As they were coming down the mountain, the disciples asked Jesus "Why then say the scribes that Elias (Elijah) must first come? And Jesus answered and said unto them, Elias (Elijah) truly shall first come, and restore all things." (Matthew 17:10-11.)
Elijah had a mission to "restore all things". Elijah held the priesthood keys of the uniting of families. And the scripture from Malachi reaffirms that part of his restoration of all things was the uniting of family's. Turning the hearts of the fathers to the children and the hearts of the children to the fathers.
If nothing else from this book, we have living proof that God lives and Jesus, His Only Begotten Son, is the Christ, our Savior and Elder Brother. It behooves us to love Him by keeping His commandments and in our own way, become involved in ways to preserve the FAMILY.
